Yuki Ito, a leading figure in Japanese women’s ski jumping, has announced that she will retire at the end of the 2026-27 season, in March 2027.
The 31-year-old athlete made the announcement public, stating that she will step away from competitive skiing after the upcoming season. Throughout her career, Ito has been a dominant force in the sport, representing Japan in four consecutive Olympic Games and securing victories on the World Cup circuit.
“I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for the warm support I’ve received over the past 13 years since joining the team. This season, I will continue to chase the world’s top spot until the very last jump,” Ito said in a statement.
Her retirement marks the end of an era for Japanese women’s ski jumping, where she has long been a pioneer and inspiration.
