Yutaro Nishimaru / Boat Race (powerboat racing)

The third day of qualifying for the GIII “Sanko Maxy Cup” at Boat Race Tsu concluded on the 11th.

Nishimaru got off to a promising start with first and second-place finishes early on, but since then he has struggled, recording results of fourth, fifth, and sixth. In the first half of the third day, he lost position while attempting a turning move and slipped from fourth to fifth place in the backstretch. In the second half, he managed a good start from the No. 6 lane but once again dropped positions during the race, leaving him dejected: “I just can’t get it right.”

“There’s no problem with the engine. The turns are good, and I have average straightaway speed,” he said, indicating the equipment is fine. Having recently been called up for major tournaments, Nishimaru cannot afford to stall his momentum. On the final day of qualifying, sitting 24th in the points standings, he will need a first-place finish to make the cut.
