A blog is basically a journal that is available on the web. The activity of updating a blog is "blogging" and someone who keeps a blog is a "blogger." Blogs are typically updated daily using software that allows people with little or no technical background to update and maintain the blog. Postings on a blog are almost always arranged in chronological order with the most recent additions featured most prominently. Source
Blogs are usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary. With the family blog, the entire family are "bloggers" and can participate in the fun. Your family website includes an easy to use blog tool which allows you can share ideas and thoughts with your family and friends.
The family blog is a fun activity, which allows you, your family, relatives and fiends to post new blog messages and post replies to messages. Choose an emoticon to reflect the mood of your post. The most recent 20 messages are displayed on the blog page. Clicking View Related button displays all messages related a message. The author of a blog entry can edit their posts. The family blog feature also has a keyword search tool.

Security
Again Security is #1, only family, friends and relatives who you issue a login for, can login and participate. Generally participants in a family blog behave them selves but just in case, as the website administrator you are the moderator. This gives you the ability to edit or delete blog entires if needed. By default the family website requires visitors to logon with a username and password. This creates an environment where you can blog without worrying about privacy issues related to visibility to the entire internet. However if you are comfortable with making your family website available to anonymous visitors, there are settings which allow you to control anonymous access to the site and also at the individual page level. If you decide to make your blog visible to anonymous visitors (the entire internet) please make sure your bloggers are aware.
